Firefly Update: We're Back in Business!

It's been a minute, but I'm so excited to share some good news from the studio! You may remember I was waiting on new wires for the kiln—and they finally arrived!

As soon as they came in the mail, I got right to work. I reattached everything and made sure to crimp the wires extra well. With the kiln put back together, it was time for the moment of truth. I re-loaded just over 330 pieces back inside and fired it all up again. The next day was a nail-biter, as always. Opening the kiln after a firing is a mix of excitement and anxiety, and I'm thrilled to report that everything turned out great! There were only two pieces that didn't do so well, but I think that was more a result of how I layered the glazes, not the kiln itself.

I'm hoping this means our kiln troubles are finally behind us! The frustration over the past few firings has been real, especially with some of the serious air quality issues we've been dealing with in the area. Once the air cleared up, I immediately put in a bisque load to get a head start.

This timing is crucial because I'm now in full-on glazing mode with a few short weeks to go before Bayfront! It's going to be a close call, but I'm pushing myself to get everything done.

For now, I'm just celebrating this win and looking forward to sharing some of the new pieces with you all very soon! Fingers crossed for smooth firings from here on out!
